The Mission of the Volunteer Action Center of the Mid-Ohio Valley, Inc. is to Connect People to Service” by mobilizing the power of those people to build a stronger community. Through a cooperative spirit, the VAC links those who have goods or services to donate with those organizations or individuals who can make use of such resources. This is accomplished by:

Connecting people with the opportunity to serve

By publicizing opportunities to serve in the newspaper, radio, TV, other media contacts, the website, newsletters

Promoting volunteerism in the Mid-Ohio Valley

With booths, tables at fairs, stores, publicizing successful projects, FaithLink recruits volunteers from area churches, but it’s not enough to meet the needs of the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled that need their services

Building the capacity for effective local volunteering

Developing and participating in collaborative programming

We are on the Joint Emergency Management Team (disaster preparedness), Compass II (survey of social/health/employment needs of community, Compass I resulted in bus lines to WVUP

Providing information and referral services

We have a staff that provides 20 hours/week of Information & Referral services

Maintaining a cost-efficient co-location facility for non-profit agencies

We have the Center for Community Service Agencies that provides 16 non-profits with shared facilities, audio-visual equipment, janitorial services, copier, phone/receptionist, conference rooms, etc, so each agency doesn’t have to have all that in their own offices
