The Challenged Athletes of West Virginia, in partnership with The Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley, will be hosting the first "Lose the Training Wheels" adaptive bicycling camp held in West Virgiia. The mission of the "Lose the Training Wheels" is to teach individuals with diabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle and become lifelong independent riders. The Camp will be held June 7th - 11th at the Parkersburg YMCA and is open to children ages 8 and up with a disability and a desire to independently ride a 2-wheel bicycle with family and friends. Approximately 45 volunteers are needed for the week of camp. Volunteers are asked to work one 75-minute session per day (or more) for the week of camp and ask that the same volunteer work with the same child all week. The Volunteer Action Center of the Mid-Ohio Valley will be handling registration for the event. For a volunteer packet contact Wendy Tuck at wendytuck@juno.com or Mary Rader at maryrader@mail2.netassoc.net or call the Volunteer Action Center at 304-424-3457.
