Operated by the WV National Guard, the Challenge Academy focuses on eight core components in a quasi-military environment: Adult Basic Education; Life-coping Skills; Job Skills; Health and Hygiene; Citizenship; Community Service; Leadership/Followership; Physical Training. Room and Board free and $15 per week living allowance. You must be 16-18 when class starts, free of illegal drugs. This program is tough . It's not summer camp, not all who enroll will graduate. When you enroll, you commit to no alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs for the entire 22 weeks. You commit to the discipline that is the critical factor in helping you build your own confidence, self respect, and physical conditioning. Students do not ned to drop out, but can be transferred.
