Program/Service Notes:
The purpose for an acute inpatient geriatric-psychiatric treatment program is the result of our desire to serve the elderly of WV and Southern Ohio who are in need of acute mental health and psychiatric care. The program focuses on assisting the patient and family with issues such as coping with illness, conflicts, loneliness, death and dying as well as generally adapting to changes that are often associated with aging. Psychiatric care and medical care are provided under the supervision of physicians who have specialized in the field of geriatric psychiatry and geriatric medicine. The geri-psych program provides the following services and care: Psychiatric Medica Nursing (24hours) Individual therapy Group therapy Family therapy & education Support groups Recreation therapy & activities Social services Behavior management Basic living skills Nutritional & dietary Pastor care Ancillary services PURPOSE: Provider of quality, compassionate health care to all people in need. Emergency Express, Chest Pain Center, Children Services, Center for Behavioral Medicine, Surgery Center, and Diagnostic Center. We have 360 licensed beds, 282 operational, and 121 active staff physicians. The Behavioral Health Center has a staff of qualified and caring professionals, providing services in the areas of : psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, psychotherapy, art therapy, recreation therapy, substance abuse counseling and case management. This center is a secured acute psychiatric in-patient center within the hospital, serving adolescents (ages 12-18).
