1. The program's mission is to enhance the quality of life, improve the care, protect the rights and promote the dignity of each Senior Citizen residing in a Long Term Care Facility. 2. Advocate for resident rights and quality care in nursing homes, personal care, residential care and other long term care facilities. 3. Impartially investigate resident, family or citizen complaints about long term care and services. 4. Monitor the long term care system and make appropriate recommendations for its improvement. 5. Provide information regarding concerns of residents in long term care facilities. 6. Provide training and certification of staff and volunteers. 7. Promote the development of citizen organizations to participate in the long term care ombudsman program.
