PURPOSE: Mobilizing the power of people to build a stronger community, the Volunteer Action Center (VAC) matches local volunteers to community needs through FaithLink, an interfaith volunteer care-giving program, and Volunteer WV. The Volunteer Action Center Information & Referral service links the community to available resources, such as food programs, housing assistance, early development, eldercare, low-interest home loans, grants, scholarships and more. The Volunteer Action Center also manages the Center for Community Service Agencies, a low cost office co-location for nonprofit agencies, located on the 2nd floor of the Dils Center: Volunteer Placement, Shared Facility, Information & Referral. Matches local volunteer skills to organization needs; Provides consultations, training resources and recognition for volunteer programs. The Information and Referral Office maintains a comprehensive database of information that includes social services provided locally. |
