Current Volunteer Opportunities

The Volunteer Action Center is looking for a volunteer to wear VAC Man suit. VAC Man is blue and yellow, with fuzzy yellow hair and a happy face. A great hit with children. For more information, call the Center at 304-424-3457.

The Children’s Home Society is in need of host homes to serve the short-term housing need of teens and older youth, not involved in the juvenile justice or social services system, in a temporary homeless situation. The Society provides training, a small financial stipend and 24-hour support to the volunteer families. For more information, please contact the Society at 304-485-0650 and speak with Lisa Doyle-Parsons, Jim Lopreste, or Ken Storey.

Amedisys Hospice of Parkersburg is seeking volunteers to help terminally ill patients and their families. As a Direct Patient Volunteer you would visit individuals either in their home or a facility 2-4 hours per week. Also seeking Volunteers that are willing to head up projects in area facilities or volunteer as a one-time Special Project Volunteer.  Call 304-424-6270 to discuss volunteer opportunities with Amedisys of Parkersburg.

The Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley would welcome volunteers at their Noah’s Arc Thrift Shops, located in Vienna and South Parkersburg, to help sort, tag, and hang donated items. The Thrift Shops are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. If interested, please call 304-422-3151.

New Greeting Cards would be most welcomed by the Volunteer Action Center. Cards may be dropped off at the Receptionist Desk on the second floor of the Dils Building located at 521 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV.
